Oh hey. Here’s Becks playing two songs. TWO OF THE SONGS THAT WOULD BE RECORDED WITH THE BAND AS A RESULT OF THE KICKSTARTER THAT WE JUST LAUNCHED.

Cats and Kittens, AYGAMG Wants To Make You Some MUSIC! ⇢

Hey Cats and Kittens!!!

All Young Girls Are Machine Guns has just launched a kickstarter and we would greatly appreciate your assistance!!! We’re looking to complete a two-fer: a 7” vinyl single “Tiger/Snake” as well as a 5-song EP we’re calling “Don’t Let The Music Fool You.”

Here’s a chance to walk away with digital downloads (one of them is of a full-band live set at The Waiting Room Lounge!), the physical vinyl single, the EP in physical CD form, a zine—complete with lyrics—handmade by the band, a tee-shirt to commemorate each project, two year-long passes to all AYGAMG shows, a pinup poster of the band, a private house show, and more!

The deadline is Saturday, May 10th at NOON!!!

Please help out if you can!

Do you want All Young Girls Are Machine Guns to be a part of your Valentine’s holiday? Here are some ideas:-Create an AYGAMG playlist (you can purchase songs you like from iTunes and download certain songs from our SoundCloud page) and get off your booty and dance—then if you make a baby, names that would be good for babies include “Rebecca.”-If you have an extra grand and a PA system lying around, you could hire us to play your dinner date—then if you make a baby, names that would be good for babies include “Becks.”-You could bring your sweetest to see us play with Caroline Smith and Twinsmith at Vega in Lincoln February 13th—then if you make a baby, names that would be good for babies include “Becca.”-You could print off this card and give it to your sweetest along with a heart-shaped pizza—then if you make a baby, names that would be good for babies include “Beckett.”Points of fact to my single friends—I have not singled you out (punnn): Single people make babies all the time. Dinner dates can be with yourself or an infinite number of your closest friends. You could always make out “To:” and “From:” to “My Sexy Self” or “To:” “This Sexy Pizza I Just Ordered” “From:” “My Sexy Self.”
PS. You can also use this for general sexy time. It don’t have no expiration date.

Arting and Farting a Year Away

Hey Cats and Kittens!

I know it’s been a while since I updated the world on what has been going on with All Young Girls Are Machine Guns. No lies. AYGAMG had/is having a GREAT year. If you haven’t nominated anyone for OEAA 2013 Artist of the Year, here’s our case, spelled out clearly…no doubt, Travis, Will, Jason, Jess, KP, Molly, and I worked our asses off this year. I believe this is pretty thorough, but I know there are still some holes.

From September 2012 to August 2013, we, as AYGAMG the band:

- helped our awesome friend Brad propose to our awesome friend Tina (countin’ it cause that was GREAT)

-opened for Preservation Hall Jazz Band, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, slam poet Rachel McKibbens, and played house band to ultimate fighter Houston Alexander

- we’ve done shows in conjunction with X-Rated: Women In Music, the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards, Omahype, HearNebraska, Greater Omaha Young Professionals, and MAHA Music Festival

- we’ve been able to benefit the Heartland Family Services, the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards, Omahype, MAHA Music Festival, and HearNebraska

Cats and kittens, we’ve got quite a few shows coming up this Summer.

One of these shows, we get to open for Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Another show will be our first show outside of the Omaha/Council Bluffs/Lincoln area.

I could DIE.

Every once in a while we get to play with bands that sound like we should fit real well together, then I watch a video or two and think, “oh man, am I trying hard enough?” I find I frequently undersell myself, so fuck that business. HMBSMS’s videos are pretty priceless and the music is joyous. It also looks like they put on quite a show. I’m actually very excited about this show and to see what they’re all about (and then to steal all their secrets…mwahahaha).
I’m also excited about what we have going on, but none of it is ready yet, so you’ll see the same show you’ve seen since the cd release, but know there’s an underlying energy connected to all those things we’re just buzzing to bring you.
He’s My Brother She’s My Sisterw/All Young Girls Are Machine GunsFriday, April 19, 2013Tickets: $10
He’s My Brother She’s My Sister invite a broad range of colorful words to describe their sound: “flamboyant folk,” “psych-acoustic,” “desert pop,” “estranged and glamorous.” No doubt this is due to their melange of musical styles, both modern and antique; their eccentric attire and sense of expression, both sincere and theatrical; and, their unique instrumentation, which includes a rhythm section bolstered by a tap dancing drummer.
Brother and sister Robert and Rachel Kolar split vocal duties, with Robert on guitar and Rachel on tambourine. Their voices range from boisterous to introspective, from breezy to emotive. Lauren Brown adds full-body percussion with her fluid tap dance and simultaneous drumming. Oliver Newell plays stand up bass with joyous flair. Aaron Robinson is on lap slide, verring from nuanced psychedelia to American roots riffs.

beckstraordinary:

This is the 4th song from Witness Tree’s upcoming album “Breathe In”, to be released on 05/31/13. This song features additional vocals by Rebecca Lowry (All Young Girls Are Machine Guns).

I had an obscene amount of fun recording this with the guys. Obscene. After my first run-through, all I could say was, “I wish I were in a rock band.”

Last second show tomorrow, y’all. Rumor has it a certain Hood Cat will be there.
I’m so sorry.

Tiger - All Young Girls Are Machine Guns

It recently dawned on me that the only copy of Tiger I have online is the original before I handed it over to Will and said, “fix it.” So, here’s a solo version of the finalized product, likely the way you’d hear it at an open mic.

Please remember, as always, if you are moved to do so or happen to create a baby upon listening to this, Rebecca is a great name for a child.
